OUR STORY:

Many years ago, I woke up as we all do and went to wash my face with a popular off-the-shelf face cleanser. While I was washing, some of it migrated from my skin to my eye and I felt a sharp burning sensation. I did my best to wash it out with water, wait for it to clear, but it didn’t get better. A day later, I almost couldn’t open my eye. I had to do something. This cleanser landed me in the emergency room getting my eyes flushed!

After that experience, I did a lot of research into what goes into skincare products. I was amazed at the amount of chemicals that go into the majority of what’s on the market out there! I was inspired to develop my own line of products that were free of harsh chemicals, parabens, and cruelty-free so that would never happen again!

When I went to come up with a name, my mother’s mother came to mind. Though I never met my grandmother, as she’d passed on before I had the chance, I was gifted with her name, Esqueen, as my middle name. Charleston, South Carolina born, my grandmother had strength, independence and a fierce dedication to family and faith and I wanted to honor her queen-like qualities and pass them on to the women and men who use my products.

WHY HEALTH WAS ADDED TO THE ESQUEEN NAME:

Creating a natural skin care line made me more aware of just how important taking care of your health really is. This, combined with almost losing a close family member who didn't see a doctor for a few a years, suffered from a family history of high blood pressure and never expected she would have this condition also. The seriousness of the high blood pressure she experienced, made her fall in the bathtub and have a few mini strokes. She suffered temporary blindness, problems with her kidney that she had to undergo dialysis, blood clots, and had to learn to walk again. By the grace of God, she returned fully back to normal after 5 years. This inspired me to add the word Health to the Esqueen name and decided that here, Health meets Beauty and I want to inspire others to take care of themselves and their skin with these beautiful products I’m proud to have created.
